As much fun as it has been to employ the endorsement trope
(this blog’s homage to legacy media editorial practices), I will most likely be
retiring that practice moving forward.
With that in mind, here (once again) are “our” choices for the Howard
County Board of Education.
With voters having the ability to cast their ballots for up
to four BoE candidates, I strongly encourage my readers to vote for:
Sabina Taj: http://sabinataj.org/
Jen Mallo: http://votejenmallo.com/
Robert Wayne Miller: http://www.miller4boe.org/
In order to keep this post concise, I will focus on the
common threads. All three individuals:
-
Are highly analytical
-
Are very knowledgeable about educational
practices and policies
-
Possess a maturity of thought and the ability to
work effectively with others
-
Are focused on solving educational challenges
and not on furthering personal agendas
-
Have strong backgrounds in education advocacy on
behalf of key stakeholders (most notably, students and educators)
-
Have demonstrated their abiding commitment to
practicing, and not just talking about, Howard County values
These three, if elected, will help the Board of Education
move forward on pressing issues related to inclusion and equity.
While some of the other candidates possess admirable personal
qualities and/or commendable track records in education-centric advocacy roles,
I believe Mallo, Taj, and Miller are the strongest choices and, collectively,
would bring a wealth of deep insights and diverse life experiences to the Board.
That is why I support Sabina Taj, Jen Mallo, and Robert
Wayne Miller for the Howard County Board of Education.
In Solidarity.
